I checked the fuel filler neck before trying to start it as i had a mk1 Golf GTI a while back with a rusty one that caused loads of trouble. When i took the fuel cap off there was a really srong realese of pressure that i guess means it's air tight.GTXTRA wrote:superb 'find'. nice one.
amongst all your usual MOT pre checks might be worth syphoning and checking the filler neck and fuel tank contents for corrosion before refilling with nice fresh fule.
Definitley check the brakes and the boots/gaitors to avoid any unnecessary MOT failure.
assuming all is well in the rear axle mount dept then you have got hold of one of the most desirable of the mk2's without doubt.
