White Cat steels - not still available from VW (edit: not)

Post by DT1 » Sat Jan 08, 2011 6:34 pm

I went to get some steels for winter driving and found to my surprise that the pre-painted Alpine White 14" steels (from the White Cat model) are still available direct from VW.

I knew that the standard wheels were still current but I was surprised that they still offered the painted ones.

Might not be news to anyone else but thought I'd give a heads up anyway.

Edit: Not happy, apparently the person that took the order got it wrong, the description is still in the catalogue but in the comments it says spray to match car!

Getting a discount though, but means I'll have to paint the wheels myself. :ire:

How did you guess?

But I'm really fed up sliding around on the alloys, the tyres I have are good in the wet but not so good in snow so I'll be fitting winter tyres to the steels.

I had planned to get steels for winter anyway so the white ones are a bonus.

Same price as the silver ones? I think I paid about £150 for a set of 4 when I bought some a year ago.

Well, that's probably what the silver ones ought to cost, but the parts chap at Birmingham VW was obviously in a good mood as he gave me a discount without me even asking
