What we do

In order to make everything about what we do and want to do straightforward, the Scirocco Register has a simple aim:

The Scirocco Register exists to provide a comprehensive register and listing of UK Sciroccos, Mk1 and Mk 2, to assist their survival and to promote the model among current and future owners.

The success and usefulness of the Register is really up to each individual member, what we seek to achieve is a network of Scirocco enthusiasts, who in the spirit of friendship and co-operation seek to help each other out in whatever way they can. We do this by meeting up regularly at regional centres throughout the UK, attending many Volkswagen and other car shows and through our magazine, Skyrocket.

Skyrocket appears 3 times a year and has all the usual stories, pictures, goings on and for sales and wants that any enthusiasts magazine should. It is edited by Peter Storr and posted to your front door. It's an excellent read and the only way to get one is to join.

We also share parts amongst each other, many of us are hoarders of body, engine and trim parts for Sciroccos of all ages, and other members can and often do supply that elusive gauge, repair panel or fuel hose that you have been searching for. A Parts Remanufacture scheme is getting off the ground in early 2004.

Advice is not in short supply, many of the members have owned, rebuilt and maintained Sciroccos since the mid 1970s. In this 30 years they have experienced Pierburg 2E2 nightmares, contaminated fuel, erratic running and the rust horrors that drive professional restorers to tears. Advice is available by post, web or phone and is always friendly.

We obviously run a website! However, we never use the web as our only means of communication, everything that appears here is also provided to members who wish postal contact, that way no one is left out and fails to join in the enthusiasm.
